Starcharts for little..
14/01/2012 by shaun.
..(and not so little) stars today. As we kicked off the new year handing out star charts. These have been handed out all week. The star charts are a way for our riders to identify and record their riding goals for 2012. And at the same time decorate their charts any way they want. Katie and I are going to give a BIG bar of chocolate to the best decorated starcharts of each age group, Minis, Juniors, Seniors and Adults.
So what are they..
Well, they look like this..
and each off our riders has to work out up to six riding goals and write them down on the starchart and then colour the chart in. Actually you can decorate it anyway you want, sequins, material collages, you get the idea.
Then you bring it back to the yard and I am going to scan them into the computer and create a photogallery of them all so we can see how colourful and imaginative everyone is.
So that way we can develop our lesson plans for then three to six months based on what everyone wants to achieve. Of course its important that the goals are all S.M.A.R.T. That’s Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Results based and Timely.
And then when you achieve each goal you can tick off the big box. The plan is to get stickers of our horses to put onto the starchart. I just need to get nice photos of our ponies for it.
So keep watching the website for our photogallery of starcharts. And of course if any of you forgot to pick up your starchart you can download it from the blog here.
So lessons were great today with various things happening, mounted games for a birthday lesson, jumping to celebrate a rider getting a pony and the BIG news was Katies 1.45pm lesson who cantered today. Fergus and Mhairi had the biggest canters on Bobby and McLennon, but even Baby George cantered for a stride with Freya.
